Cape Cost, Ghana and Menagesha-Suba Natural forests,Oromiya, Ethiopia

13/07/18 [Djibouti Anchorage]
Talking about Natural Forests, I have this amazing trip I had with my colleagues in 2010 and 2012. The former is a trip to one of the natural forests in Ghana and the latter is a trip I had to Suba Natural forest, Oromiya, Ethiopia.

When I was attending my maritime studies at Accra, Ghana, I have traveled to different places, among them, is a trip to Cape Cost,(known as Gold Cost in the early days) and to Kakum Natural forest, one of the largest natural forests in Ghana.

To start with the natural forest, it has varieties of indigenous trees and wild life’s, and spectacular suspension bridge  built from wood plank and steel wire ropes, sight-seeing tree houses, peaceful and nice sound of birds, and much more.

My next stop was at the Town of Cape Cost, where Slavery of black people has begun. So at the Palace of the Cape cost you will see heart breaking underground Dungeons where the British kept the locals locked in chain as prisoners to export them to North America, South America, Europe. You can see from the pictures I have gathered from the Museum at Cape cost Palace. The place have a stunning view and they have tried to keep some of Dungeons as to the status where the prisoners have been kept back in the days, you can even smell the reminisce on the wall of the rooms. This is a little piece of information I wrote and you can check on the links to get detailed information.
We had an outstanding tour guide whose name is Biiniyam  Duresso
When I come to Menagesha-Suba National forest, I traveled to this natural forest in 2012 with my colleagues from maritime school. I had such an amazing time. Suba is Located at Jimma, after you passed  Meta Abo Brewery at Subeta, Oromiya, there is a pista road about 17 Kms from the main road then you ll find yourself at the heart of the Great natural forest.

So I organized the transport, provision, and booked a motel located at the forest through phone. You know what amazes me most at that time I paid  around 30 Et Birr per room for the Big Guest house, which accommodates for about 5 of us and 18 Et Birr   for the dormitories, we were 11 at that time.  I took us about 2 hours to reach the forest from Addis Ababa.

We arrived late on Saturday afternoon took some rest and moved around the forest for some a while and camped back to our Motel. We prepared our campfire for our diner we had our beer and soft drinks as well. So as it gets late the hyenas started to bark. Early in the mooring we hiked to the top of the mountain and saw waterfalls, land marks, Wild lives and finally the Museum.
By Sunday, after we had our branch around 1100 AM we took some rest in the wilderness of the forest. By late afternoon we went back to Addis Ababa. It was such a refreshing time we had at the time and I am sure my colleagues can witness the fun and the excitement we had as they go through this post. I hope you wouldn't mind me for posting you pictures on this blog!
